ISO CONP: Connected Network Agreement - Network Code

Connected to the Connection Network Protocol CONP is an OSI network layer protocol that provides transmission of upper layer data and error indication on a connection-oriented link. There are two types of OSI network layer services available for the OSI Transportation layer:

Unconnected Network Services CLNS: CLNs to implement the transfer of datagrams. No circuitry is required before transferring data. Connecting Network Services CMNS: CMNS needs to request a clear path or circuit between the communication transport layer entity before transmitting data.

CONP, based on the X.25 grouping layer protocol PLP, is a communication interface of CMNS and the upper layer. It is a network layer service that acts as an interface between transport layers and CMNs. CONP provides six services to the transport layer entity: an establishment of a connection, a release of the connection, and the additional four transmission of data. The above service needs to be called when four primitives "request, instructions, response, and confirmation" are used.
